FATAL ACCIDENT. – Yesterday afternoon, about two o'clock, a private of the 7th North Carolina Volunteers, named McClutz was placed in the Franklin Street guard house, for drunkenness, and going up into the fourth story of the building, where a number of other soldiers were confined, he went into the back porch, a part of which is unprotected by railings, and losing his balance, fell over. He lodged upon the top of an open door, of the first story, striking upon his stomach, and hung there until taken down by the guard and other soldiers in the back yard. He was perfectly insensible, and died in a few minutes after being carried into the guard house. A gash was ripped in his stomach by contact with the door, and his internal injuries were so great that it was impossible to save him.
