From the Richmond Dispatch, 12/5/1880, p. 1, c. 3

DEATH OF DR. PETER F. BROWN, OF ACCOMAC COUNTY. – The sad news of Dr. Brown’s death reached Richmond yesterday, and will cause sorrow in many homes in Virginia. During the war he left the Eastern Shore and came to Richmond, and was appointed surgeon to the Confederate army, and assigned to the Virginia Division of Chimborazo Hospital. In those days of sorrow he was ever a true friend to the soldier, and knew no higher work than to relieve the suffering of his fellow man. Dr. Brown has been in active practice ever since he left college, and has occupied the highest positions in his profession.

He was buried at Mount Custis, the family burying-ground, in Accomac county, followed by a large and sorrowing company.
